How I wish I had more brain cells--or a bigger brain to accommodate all the data being "forced" to my little head.

Academic Community Computerized Enrollment System Solutions

Being the Center of Development for Excellence in IT Education, Lorma stands up to be the most advanced in technology among tertiary schools in the region. One proof of this advancement is the development of the ACCESS (refer to title please) which allows students to view their grades, schedule, classmates and other academic whatsoever–online.

But to my deepest dismay (and sudden GI upset while typing this), I never imagined that a computerized enrolment can be that slow and bothersome. The process of enrolment is ideally simple. You just need to get yourself enlisted and “registered” as a bonafide student of the school, right? And one responsibility is paying your tuition and miscellaneous fees. Let me recall to you how it all happened.

I went to school about 10:00. I assumed that the enrolment will be fast, basing from what ACCESS means. The first step was to get my grades. I wrote my name in a paper and a teacher handed down my grades. Other students surrounding me were exclaiming, “Oh my God! Ang baba ng grades ko!” I don’t have time to look at my grades (actually, I don’t really care). The result of the comprehensive exam last semester still haunts me up to this day. Add the left-handed compliments I’ve been receiving from my editor and I instantly forgot happiness. Ngarr..

After getting my grades, I went to room 005 for the “form.” I don’t know what it’s called .. pero basta kind of form. And to my (un)surprise, nobody was there.  “Nice”, I thought. Luckily there were “humans” inside the adjacent room so I asked where can I get one [form]. I was instructed to look for our adviser. My instincts told me to go to the faculty room, hoping she might be there. As I was walking, I wondered where my classmates had gone to. It seemed like I was the only one who haven’t enrolled yet. So I felt nervous and ran my way through the annoying crowd in the admin building. And there they are.

My classmates had cleverly blocked the hallway all through the door of the faculty room. So it seemed that  I was not the only one who was late. While waiting, I stood by the cashier’s window while the wall fan roared with its might to provide the cozy room a precious blow of “air”. I was thinking about my school’s universityhood.Ooopps! I mean, international universityhood. Or so was it proposed to be. And all of a sudden, there was a brown-out. And everyone on the hall uttered “OOOOOOOOOOO”. Then after a few minutes, the lights went up again. And as the fan started to blow, brown-out. And then in. And then out. And then it was my turn to get my form. And while one teacher is validating the grades using the ACCESS account, to my suprise, she uttered the F word! Lol. Christian values, my ass.

So after the form, I went to the mad crowd behind the NLRC. LNRC. watever. The line was utterly long. Well as my two clear eyes saw, the line was “broken”. Naturally, I attempted to go where the line was terminated but then an ugly-looking homo yelled, “Bawal singit” Okay, so the line was not broken after all. I waited for about one hour and fifteen minutes before I had my turn. There were still about fifty students behind me when I realized that there is scarcely fifteen minutes before the “people” will go out for their lunch break. And one of them said, “Last fifteen minutes!” The level head was muttering “Next time pumunta kasi kayo nang maaga. Eight nandito na dapat kayo.” And my classmate spurred, “Ma’am 6 nandito na ako pero close pa itong NLRC.” Ang lupet!

I had only ten minutes to pay for my fees so I hurried to the gym for the final three steps. Get the assessment form, pay, and then get the classcards. I did not mind about the ID. I can still get it next week.

Geez! I have to report on Monday and my very first subject is RLE! What a mess. My schedule turned out to be even more toxic! Though I don’t have a four-unit subject this sem, I have eleven subjects to think about. Only three of these are nursing subjects and so I will be hearing statements again like, “Wag nyong minaminor ang mga minors nyo”.

Whew. So by saturday I have to go to Luna with my siblings. They will be having their semestral break with our grandmother. Lucky for them. They are going to sleep in my room again. I, on the other hand, have to go back to the city on monday and will be living alone for the rest of the week. That’s good, anyway. At least the environment will be suitable enough for me to review my notes.
